  • Arbor Day - Special activities occur in April to highlight the environmental importance of trees. (April)

  • Coastal Cleanup - Each September, approximately 2,500 volunteers participate in a one day cleanup of the shores and tributaries of the Chesapeake and Delaware Bays, as well as the Atlantic Ocean beaches. (September)

  • Earth Day - Various environmental events are held in April throughout the service territory. See the Community calendar for specific events. (April)

  • Envirothon - The Envirothon is a nationally sponsored problem-solving, natural resource education program for high school students. It covers a variety of subject areas, such as aquatics, soils, forestry, and wildlife. The program emphasizes hands-on learning in coordination with year-long student study information. (May)

  • Nature Conservancy - National, non-profit organization that buys and accepts donations of land to protect wildlife and save the nation's wetlands and wilderness.

  • Partnership for the Delaware Estuary, Inc. - Non-profit organization which works to protect the environment, promote conservation of natural resources, and contribute to the usefulness of the Delaware Estuary and its tributaries for recreational and commercial purposes that are compatible with the sustainable use of estuarine resources. (DE, NJ)

  • Tri-State Bird Rescue - Private, non-profit wildlife rehabilitation organization (DE, MD)
